Deloitte volunteers support our client's work ambitions

Deloitte group edit

Six Deloitte volunteers met with six of our clients for a day of confidence building activities.

A morning dedicated to CV improvements proved useful with one participant declaring:

The morning dedicated to the CV was useful and the experts I've spoken to gave me tips for improvements. The second part of the day was even better as I almost had a one-on-one mock interview. Now I know why my interviews have been unsuccessful. I can see clearly now and know where I am going. Participant

But in the afternoon the group did one-to-one sessions like mock interviews with useful opportunities for feedback and hints and tips. Including the STAR technique.

The STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format is a job interview technique used by interviewers to gather all the relevant information about a specific capability. Participants were supported to give answers to interview questions that responded to these categories.

Although it was only a small number of clients our intention for the day was that each of our clients received high quality and personalised support and advice, really gleaning as much as they could from the experience of the Deloitte's team.

This certainly worked as every single one of our clients who took part in the day reported:

  • Learned useful skills
  • Felt challenged in a good way
  • Feel that they could communicate better with others as a result of the day
  • Felt more confident and positive about themselves and their future

The day was organised by Volunteering Matters.
