We have a new and exciting role as a part-time Community Employment Specialist (CES) in Greenwich

On 31st October 2016 the Government published the Improving Lives: Work and Health Green Paper and announced a new package of personalised support for people with a health condition or disability who want to move into employment. The Journey to Employment (J2E) project is funded by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), initially for one year. The voluntary Journey to Employment (J2E) peer support Job Clubs are delivered away from the Jobcentre and offer disabled people and people with a health condition support to reduce and overcome barriers to employment, provide techniques to manage health conditions and change attitudes towards employment.

You will champion employment as a realistic goal for people with disabilities:

  • Supporting clients to achieve their employment goals and increase their engagement within the community and reduce their social isolation
  • Providing tailored information, advice, guidance and practical support to enable clients to achieve their employment goals, actively manage their health condition and improve their self confidence
  • Running courses, workshops, and Job Clubs
  • Working with employers and the community to change attitudes to employing people with disabilities

We are looking for people to join our team:

  • Motivated, positive and flexible professionals who want to make a difference
  • Experienced in supporting people to gain employment in line with their goals, skills and abilities and/ or experienced in supporting vulnerable people towards their goals and their recovery
  • Expert knowledge of disability and a real insight into the issues disabled people face in finding and securing employment and/or lived experience of disability.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills and be able to manage a range of tasks in the Job Club, Jobcentre Plus and in the local community
