I need help to get into work or a course

Our team of Advisors work within community mental health teams, psychological therapies services, Job Centres and GP practices to provide:

• Initial assessment of your needs
• Careers guidance
• Planning actions to meet your specific needs
• CV development and help with application forms
• Help with job searching
• Support in accessing employers, colleges and volunteering
• Welfare benefits and financial information/advice
• Ongoing review and support

I need help to keep my job

Getting back to work from sick leave for stress or mental health difficulties can be hard.  Or you may be at work but feeling overwhelmed, stressed or depressed – struggling to cope. Our Advisors provide a specialist service that help you manage better – supporting your mental wellbeing in the process.  We will work with you to:

• Assess your needs and create an action plan
• Liaise with your family doctor and other local health services that can help
• Agree a supported return to work plan
• Give advice on how the law can protect and support you
• Work with your line manager/employer to help the return to work process work better
• Help identify reasonable workplace adjustments
• Signpost to other local services

If you are interested in working but not sure if you are ready; or just need some short term specific help in getting back to work our Next Step - Information Advice & Guidance service may be just what you need:

• Up to 3 sessions to help you make the next steps
• 1 to 1 or group sessions depending on your specific needs
• Part of the national Nextstep adult careers advice service with up to date information about work and learning opportunities
• Practical support in preparing or looking for work
• Help if you are in work and at risk of redundancy

I am an employer. What services can you offer me?

Employee concerns

You may have concerns about an employee’s mental wellbeing – perhaps they are signed off sick, or they may still be attending work.  You may be unsure about how to support them in getting the help they need.
Our Advisors can provide you with:

• Information and resources on good practice managing mental health at work
• Advice on supported return to work plans for staff on sick leave
• Support to your employee
• Help with implications of new “fit notes” from GPs
• Information about and access to local mental health services

Mental Health First Aid training

• 1 in 4 of any company’s staff and customers will have a mental health condition
• Many of your front line staff will not have the confidence and skills to manage the impact on customer behaviour and needs

Twining is now delivering mental health first aid (mhfa) training for customer facing staff and their managers.  Delivered in your workplace, mhfa provides a recognised training solution.

By the end of the two day course, delegates will be:

• Able to identify signs of poor mental health
• Confident in helping people who are experiencing difficulties
• Skilled in seeking further help if needed
